Hey everyone,

The Hope show went off without a hitch!! We had great participation and to date that is the most entries we have had at any of our shows thus far.  A big thank you to all the folks at the Hope Fair Park the ground was great, the facilities were excellant, and the concession stand  as always is a must and had great food.  These folks went above and beyond to make sure that we were accomodated Sunday and we really appreciate their kindness and support.  Amanda and Deanna also did a super job with the books and kept things running smoothly in the announcer stand.

   Our show this Sunday is again at Hope, and has a Valentine theme so everyone bring your sweetheart!!  We are having a Men's Barrel Race with a Cow-Cutta.  We will auction the guys off before their run.  If you are the highest bidder on the winning or placing guy you will receive a payout in the Cow-Cutta.  Many of our self proclaimed male barrel horse trainers will be entered so come out and watch their moment in the spot light!  The books are going to open at 1:00PM, Exh will start at 1:30PM, the Men's Barrel Race will start at 3:00PM and the NBHA Barrel Race will follow. 

Our March 2nd show will also be at Hope Fair Park the start times will be the same.  We are going to have a silent auction at this show so everyone will need to bring an item to donate for the auction.  Danny and I are going to donate 2 weeks of horse training (by Danny of course), so if your horse has any bad habits that need adjusted or just a little tuning or handle place your bids!  We are also going to have the First Annual AR03 Dog Race at this show so get your dogs fit and ready.  I have to warn you though my dog Shotzie is the defending champion at the Marshall City Arena.  It's going to be really fun so everyone mark your calenders for March. 

I'm adding shows to our schedule so be sure and check out the schedule and times.  I'm soon to have our schedule completed for the year.  I only lack a few OK's on pens and we will be set for the year. 

I am offering the buy back option for the Youth and Senior Divisions that are entered in the Open Barrel Race.  You may buy back if you have a no time and are entered also in the Open Division for $10 dollars.  This money will go to the district for year end awards.   

The final standings are posted!  If you are in the top 5 or tied in the top 5 holes for 2007, you are eligible to go to the World  show in Augusta, Ga. in the Open or Senior Divisions.  Same goes for the Youth and Teen in Jackson, Miss.  If anyone has any questions contact me and I'll be glad to help you.  

If I do not have paid by your name on the standings page I do not have you as paid for year end awards and you will not receive your award.  I will be ordering the awards next week and plans for a banquet are in the works. 

Our State Show information is posted on NBHAArkansas.com for all who are interested.  Looks like they will be in Pine Bluff again on March 15 and 16.  Pre entry deadline is February 17th.  You can download entry forms, stall information, sponsorship forms, and schedule on barrelracer.com. 

Our district rules remain much the same this year.  I will enforce the 70% participation and working the shows rule again this year.  If you don't sign the worksheet you didn't work so remember to sign and check your name off.  You must attend 70% of our district shows to be eligible for year end awards.   Also, the $25 donation will again be required to be eligible to receive year end district awards.

UPDATE 2/26/08:  Kim Thomas is going to be offering a barrel racing clinic at the Hope Fair Park Arena April 4-6th, 2008.  She also has some really nice horses for sale if anyone is interested.  Check out her web site at Kimthomasbarrelhorses.com.  I will be posting detailed information on the clinic as I receive it.  If you are interested in signing up for the clinic please contact me by email or phone at the numbers listed below.  She will only be taking a limited number of students so get your place reserved.  Stalls and RV sites will be available.  The cost will be $20 per stall per night.  RV site cost will be the same $20 per night.

Update:  3/10/08:  Don't forget the Arkansas State NBHA show this weekend.  Our members will be asked to set up barrels and assist in the Youth Race, so please help us when you are asked.  For Schedule information see barrelracer.com or NBHAarkansas.com
